    Hello,
I am a CLP holder in the state of Washington state. I am currently getting hands on training from an employer in California who is registered in the FMCSA training provider register. Unfortunately, he is not authorized to give a skills test to take back to Washington state. I am looking for a 3rd party skills tester in California that is approved in the state of Washington. Or if possible, a 3rd party skills tester in Washington state that accepts california Training provider register. Or what are the other options besides trucking schools.

    Hi there,
If your employer can enter and certify your education hours with the FMCSA then you should be able to work with a WA CDL school like Toro Trucking who can do a final polish on your WA pre-trip (it is unique), then schedule your final exam with one of their 3rd party examiners.

Third party testers aren't allowed to test out of state drivers unless they did their training at the school the tester works for, so you won't be able to test in California for a Washington license based on what you wrote.

Once the California trainer enters your training records in the FMCSA web page, you will be able to return to Washington and test. You can test either with the DMV or with a 3rd party tester. I do a similar thing where I train people with a TN license, but they can't test in MS at either the DMV or with a 3rd party tester. They have to find a tester in TN. So far, they've all just gone to DMV in TN.
