Nevada; no state income taxes, no food taxes at the grocery stores, military discounts on property taxes, vehicle license plates and various stores such as Lowes, Home Depot, and others.
Bumper Thanks this. -

Heh heh, you're doing a heck of a recruitment job.
It does look sweet. And it's not out of the question. My aunt is near Austin now but I've never been there. It looks ok, and I've heard Texas is a pretty good spot for work reasons.
It looks like you have a really good setup now, going back and forth.Chinatown Thanks this. -
I strongly considered Austin until the city made a sharp left turn. Texas is a great state, except for Austin and Houston.
Not trying to recruit you, but just going by personal experience.
If you can use your aunts address in Austin, that's a good move since you won't actually be living there anyway.
Once you are prepared, you can move the family to the USA. You'll have time to evaluate which area is best for the family and prepare for that.
I did hours of research before finally settling on Henderson, Nevada. You wouldn't believe how many hours I spent online looking for somewhere the family would be safe, yet have the amenities for a high quality life style. Almost overwhelming at times.
Henderson and Las Vegas city lines zig-zag as if it's one city. As if one is a suburd of the other.Last edited: Jun 22, 2023
Constant Learner and billermo Thank this. -
We lived in Boulder City not too far from the Hoover Dam. Loved our time there and glad we spent two years there. Liked it up in Reno too. But I have to admit I love the green of Tennessee. Such a drastic change from the Desert Brown we lived in while in Commiefornia and Nevada.

I drove cross country once and was very near where you're talking about but didn't go see the dam. ####. Then we drove across, passed through Joshua Tree, on the way to LA which was our final destination. Great trip. We spent some time in the other Boulder, the one back in the mountains a bit east of there.

And I've been to Reno and that area a few times. For me, a highlight was Pyramid Lake, which I think is on a reservation. Had a great time camping there, and climbing the rocks.Bumper Thanks this. -
Surely not your fault. I hear you. Just let me wrap up these loose ends if that's ok. Then back to Chi-town. My bad, I know.

Henderson looks quite good. I'd already looked up pictures of it before you sent that link. I don't mind desert at all. I drove around all those states years ago, and always intended to get back some day.
I don't really have any feeling about Austin except that my aunt lives there, and she only just moved there during covid from New Jersey.
OK, Chicagoland, sorry, I know.
Chinatown Thanks this.
