Guy I pulled cattle for his Grandpa was still driving at 92 years old hauling fat cattle to the packing plants and he got mad at us when we loaded/unloaded them for him. Said he could still do it himself. He started the family business hauling cattle back in the 40s and kept at it until the end.

Since I'm over 70 I'll say this, mind your own business. Stick your nose in my business and I'll break it for you. I'll quit when I don't enjoy this anymore. I'm very aware of my health, physical and mental. Age is just a number.

As far as maintaining a CDL, I don't have many qualms about old hands.
Now if we want to talk about OBTAINING a CDL I would be all in favor of a 65 age limit. I'm tried of dealing with the guys who want to "retire into trucking and see the country". While they get through orientation well enough, once out on the road they struggle with the pace and the paychecks. They only want to run 250-300 miles a day and they tend to have a flippant attitude towards appointment times. Then they get cranky at the $500 paychecks.dwells40, TripleSix, Jubal Early Times and 1 other person Thank this. -
I mean, @gentleroger, how many have you seen, regardless of age, that didn't belong in polite society? Yet, they hand them the keys and push the problem off on the DBL's.
Butt in a seat......problem solved.dwells40 and gentleroger Thank this. -

The thing we have to remember is we share the road.
Be on the lookut for people running their own race.
Be doubly aware for the ones that aren't situationally aware. -
