They likely put eligible for rehire so they didn't ruin your future with driving. Or like you said, just because they don't want anyone to know about the trailer being towed away. Try calling them back and see if they will rehire you? That is a shame your past employer paid you less when you went back. Must have been butt hurt that you left in the first place.

Stuck in mud, needed a wrecker tow to get out. I think I know 15 drivers here at Abilene that’s had that happen to them and are still employed here. Call in on Monday and speak with Trish. She will advise you with that one phone call.

With all due respect -- arguably your BIGGEST mistake here was signing up to drive (as a beginning driver) with a small fleet.

Those super-large fleets......that everybody else loves to bad-mouth....have a "hidden" HUGE ADVANTAGE.....for rookie drivers.

Those large fleets are pretty much self-insured.

Thus--since they are self-insured--if you have a bad day and something like this happens, they are set up to write a check for the damage and/or the tow, and basically be much more forgiving.

Had you been driving instead with Schneider--you would have very likely been brought back in for 2-3 days of additional coaching with a trainer, and then they would have "burped" you....and then put you back out in the field, running loads again.

Embarrassing? Absolutely. But WAAAAAA-HAAAAYYY BETTER than getting fired. :(

Solution: for your next CDL gig--sign up this next time with a LARGE fleet.

If you later have another similar bad day....and those do happen with the rookies....your odds of staying on payroll afterwards are MUCH BIGGER.

If the above other CDL job suggestions somehow don't pan out....you could try the following (or you could try the following, as well)....it's a regional gig out of Ocala.....and it's with a large fleet (several thousand trucks)--on paper, at least....you now qualify for it:

USA Truck (Schenker) -- regional truck driver -- Ocala, FL -- USA truck accepts new drivers

Best of luck (this time around).....:salute:

Things happen man...that was just your inexperience working. I promise you, everyone has made some sort of mistake or caused damage in their rookie year, or at any time during their career. Honestly, that's the best way to learn lol. During my first 5 years, I had my share of incidents. There are companies that will take you on. It isn't like you rolled over or jack knifed. If you're uncertain about routing or anything in trucking in the future, don't hesitate to come on here and ask questions. Any of us can help you. Keep a truckers atlas handy, and only use the marked highways. Also, make sure you call your customer if your unsure about how to get there or if it is a new place. Sometimes the atlas and Google maps isn't always so clear.

Rideandrepair and Vic Firth Thank this.
