People are very, very stupid when purchasing vehicles. The important stuff is rarely considered.
I haven’t seen a good looking EV yet. I’m not into the futuristic spaceship look. I imagine most people aren’t unless they are trying to impress others.
Waiting on New Trucks thread.

Looks like a Ford without a grill, which isn't needed since there isn't a radiator, so they made it aerodynamic.
I'll admit that the color scheme isn't my taste. All black would be better. -
How do they cool the batteries? Pretty sure most electric cars still have radiators.
-
RedForeman, Siinman, JoeyJunk and 5 others Thank this.

That's an expensive fire.

i just screenshot this-
Have I asked the question on this forum: what happens when a battery powered electric truck catches fire on an overpass and burns its way thru/
For tesla car fires they say theyre sposed to be submerged essentially in a rolloff dumpster full of water for 24 hours. Which that in itself isnt so quick to be available on the side of the highway. How big of a pool would one need to submerge a semi truck, and at @ 24+ thousand pounds (lets disregard if its hooked to a trailer how theyd detach a super hot fire from a trailer) how would it be picked up and dumped into said container full of water?
This just some basic questions I have, aside from the whole electrical infrastructure, hours of service vs battery life and recharging, total lifespan of electrical power units vs initial cost, and all the issues seen in vocational settings that could be a real issue for the current crop of designs for electric trucks I have seen.dwells40, RedForeman, PPLC and 9 others Thank this. -
Not a huge amount different than a tanker of fuel on fire, wait for it to eventually burn out and contain the perimeter, hazmat cleanup certainly does seem like itll be a bear
-
Ya , but now every car is like a tanker…..Opendeckin, Siinman and Feedman Thank this.

To be honest, given the number of electric cars on the road, im impressed with as FEW incidents that the battery packs end up in flames.
We shall see if that continues to hold as the lithium ion ones age -
Yep drove by there every day going to work off of I435 and Truman Rd for 15 years.
