Actually over 70 and hanging it up in August. I just don’t like doing nothing sitting at home but my knees are getting bad and it’s getting difficult to deal with these days. My grandfather told me once, that after he retired it felt like he started falling apart and to keep myself busy as long as possible. I took that to heart and have done so about as long as I can.
Left lane heros

You don’t know what they have going on. Just move over and let them pass. What does that hurt you? If you want to police people’s speed the highway patrol is always hiring.

I don't have the stats sitting in front of me but I'd bet that most cmv accidents on interstates in cities happen during lane changes and merges with four wheelers. If all truckers dropped the old way of thinking and adopted going to the center, or left lane, and cruised through at atleast the speed limit it would be much safer for everyone. As someone else pointed out the safest would be far left lane but that'll never go over with those who think that lane is sacred for speeders. Again, it's not about policing others speed, it's about getting from point a to point b in the safest possible manner. I think the traditional way of staying far right is wrong and adds to the number of accidents snd congestion on city interstates.Last edited: Jun 28, 2023

Most of those lane change accidents are on the right side of the vehicle. If everyone stayed right except to pass they would be greatly reduced. So it kind of goes against your argumentSiinman, Phoenix Heavy Haul, D.Tibbitt and 3 others Thank this.

Thr right side is where all the merging takes place though.Jubal Early Times Thanks this.

But by using terms like “super trucker” and exaggerating examples like 70 in a 55 it seems that you are basically hanging out there to purposely enforce the traffic laws. Which is not your job. And I might add are creating a more hazardous situation for everyone. And breaking keep right laws yourself
Siinman, Oxbow and RunningAces Thank this. -
It is not your responsibility to make room for merging traffic. It is more safe for you and everyone if you simply maintain speed. They can speed up or slow down because they are the merging party.Siinman, Phoenix Heavy Haul, D.Tibbitt and 1 other person Thank this.

Not all states have those laws and I admit, I don't care at all about the guy who wants to go that much over the posted limit In a busy city. There is no reason at all they should be driving that recklessly so nobody should have any sympathy for anything they have going on.Jubal Early Times Thanks this.

Ok.. let’s play the scenario out. I move heavy equipment. I’m in the right lane at say 14’ wide. So I’m taking all of my 12’ lane plus two feet of the break down lane. 4 cars ahead of me there is a Walmart truck doing the speed limit. Next to him is you doing the speed limit. Behind you are 10 cars all trying to get around us. The just keep piling in beside me because you won’t #### or get off the pot. Then we come up on a guy 3 foot past the fog line changing a tire. I’m pretty well boxed in. And it’s because you are in the left lane holding people up.
Think about the big picture and not just yourself or the A hole tailgating you. -
That’s everyday in my world. You are showing them who’s boss but you are creating a hazard for many other people unintentionally
Siinman, Long FLD, Phoenix Heavy Haul and 2 others Thank this.
