So if you got sideswiped in the middle lane would you volunteer that you were driving in the middle lane for the previous 200 miles and don't see the issue? If your safety man asked it? Would you own up to it? Because your honest answer probably puts your job on the chopping block unless they're feeling merciful and you admit to your mistake. Nobody feels sorry for inconvenienced drivers but if you really want to piss somebody off make em fill out a bunch accident paperwork after admitting you were in the wrong.

the only thing I have to worry about in the middle lane is what's in front of me or what's coming up on the shoulder that's in turn going to affect the dudes to my right or the dudes to my front.

if somebody hits me from either side or the back, and i'm inside my own lines, that's on them. i own my space and anyone who comes in it. i have zero concern for anything except what's in front of me or emergency/services/problems in queue coming up on the shoulder. you take that as me being unaware, and i like that :cyclopsani:

if you're behind me, you are not my business

So you cut left forcing everyone to have to take evasive action at
Your own words said it leaves options of places to go, now you claim you need no place to go? I would love to talk to you after your first real close call when your scrambling for an out and don’t have one. I know you will try and say you have but it’s clear by your choices, words and supposed actions that you have been very lucky so far. I can only hope for those around you your luck doesn’t run out!

if it's three lanes and there are posted signs "no trucks in left lane", like 76 through PA, yes i stay right. most three lane areas that aren't through a metroplex aren't truck restricted, some are, but it's never a constant. mostly 3 lanes are not restricted

Got my CDL in 1984. Hasnt happened yet *knock wood* :)

    BUT....

I have been trapped because I was being passed on BOTH sides while I was in the right hand lane, and that was my last accident (1998)... Soooooo.........

    Your argument is ...

    wrong.

This is a little like a political debate. Unwinnable. No opinions will be changed. But moderately entertaining from the outside looking in.

This is bigger than a difference of opinion. This discussion is actually a microcosm of the generational changes that ail our society.

The older Generations were taught to consider how their actions affected others, and to try and avoid inconveniencing others when possible. The younger generation could care less how they affect anyone else. And that attitude is clearly demonstrated in several of the posts in this discussion.

And yes, I realize that's a really broad brush, but if you pay attention, it's true across whole lot of different interactions with others.
