Well to be honest, Swift ran me fairly versatile in my first year. I went west several times but do you know that I didn't run west of NE since Aug 08'! I did everything I knew from the posts here from drivers. I notified my DM that it's been several months since I saw a cactus and it's about time. They didn't care!
When I realized my DM was powerless, I notified the fleet manager. Then we had a "come to Jesus" meeting with him and my DM. After I explained my disdain for the NE telling them I'll go anywhere you like and OCCASIONALLY the NE provided you get me more west of TX once in a while, they didn't care.
Then, down in Tallahassee, FL after del a 2 stopper to some tight k-marts, I called the terminal manager and was like, look man, I need to see a cactus in my near future, he didn't seem to care either. So after a year of not getting west of I-35 I told them to #### off after accepting a load to NJ (I thought it was near the 'terminal' in NJ based on the weekend dispatches tale not having looked it up like I should have coming off of hometime) once I realized I'd been had (not necesarily intentionally, w/e dispatch is just short of retarded) I asked the planner to let me t-call in Richmond since I misunderstood the del location (stupid me) and they said NO YOU MUST DEL! I said hell with that (I'd had enough of the ne) I'm quittin! and turned in the truck to the home terminal where I was dispatched from.
They gave me a "no show" on my DAC even though I gave them 15 hours to get another driver there to get it when they had several drivers available at the terminal (as usual) to get it.
I didn't give them two weeks, but I feel like I did everything to work with them and for whatever reason (most likely the lack of freight) they wouldn't work with me so I bailed.
They did pay me for the D/h to Greer from the house and I made sure the dispatcher signed off on the inspection sheet. The only real neg I had on record was a minor incident I had 13 months prior (I posted the details here before, well before I quit) with a miscalculation on a u-turn at a dead end street that had to be fixed with a wrecker to straighten me up (my stupidity for not thinking clearer to be honest, at that point, I wasn't comfortable backing 2 miles around narrow, curvy and hilly road).
What is a driver to do? I didn't abandon their equipment or a load! I did leave them short notice though. Seems like that's par for the course for most drivers.

There is where you have it wrong...I'm not calling you anything when I say this, but its the wannabe's and the ones that never should have climbed in that truck in the first place that quit without notice.
There is a VERY short list of reasons that would warrant quitting without notice...but those reasons have nothing to do with anything you've stated here. -
Lol I Qualcomed dispatch asking what load I was on in the morning, they told me what it was and I replied that they better make sure they had it covered because I would not be there in the morning. Turned the truck in (local) and started my new job the next morning

It's my understanding that most drivers do not leave 2 weeks like most other jobs because the companies don't always play nice either. For me it was best because the truck was already home so it was easy to get all my stuff off.
If it was such a bad thing to do, why did they pay me for the drive there when I didn't even ask for pay?
That is my understanding about how it usually goes down lol. -

If the situation was different than what it was I would have given two weeks notice, which I think is the right thing to do depending on how your employer treats you and your trust in them. As it stands now, I would give my current employer at least a month so they would be able to find someone to replace me and train them. Not sure what the Jews have to do with this......
