I predicted much the same: a slow return toward the end of this year, early next.
I also run reefers. I'm seeing volume pick up noticeably, but not rates so much. Melons and other southern produce harvests also seemed to start a bit later this year. That's where the capacity is going IMO. Fuel is too cheap now as well. If it would get back over $5-6/gal, then I believe you'd see truck capacity actually shrink. -
I dropped my truck off at Peterbilt today for a couple things. There was a shiny new 389 sitting there so I go take a look while I was waiting for my ride to show up. It had Apollo brand tires all the way around. So i Google, and they’re an Indian company that’s new to the US market. So I mention it to my friend, and he said he took delivery of a new 389 that had them on the steer and they just pulled them off. They were cupping bad with 23k miles on them. Nothing like laying $260k for a truck and getting off brand tires on it.

I guess, “Class” no longer pays?
stwik, Tropsnart, Midwest Trucker and 4 others Thank this. -
This is how class pays . Suspension issue since bought brand new and michelin steers look like this after 80k miles on them . Peteshit not peterbilt.

Those are the same steers that came on my truck. They’re a Michelin regional tire, the lack of the decoupler groove makes them wear that way. They were throwing those on during Covid when they were all they could get. I ran mine for 75k and they were wearing like your pic. I pulled them off and put on Michelin X line Energy Z and those are wearing perfect with 95k on them now. I put new steer shocks on with the tires but I’ve never had an alignment on the truck since I’ve had it.dwells40, IH9300SBA, Midwest Trucker and 9 others Thank this.

I am planning on putting the same ones soon.i went to chad in kansas city to get alignment done and he made it ride really smooth and straight like an arrow . But the suspension issue messed the alignment up in a day .
