Well, I have officially finished week 1 of training, attending the main campus here in Sudbury. Today i went to write the written mto tests. Already have my Z endorcement. Since the same road test will cover a C license i chose to write that test as well. Might as well get everything I can right!!! :biggrin_255:

This past week was all in class. From learning hours of service to pre-trip inspections we covered alot of material, instructor was great and made sure everyone understood before moving on.

Starting monday I will begin the road driving portion of the course. Super pumped and can't wait.

Will update once doing some road driving!!!

    Baack Thanks this.

Well, went out today to do some bobtailing.
Went to a quiet area to do some shifting. Little previous shifting helped me get a hang on it so that went great. Then did some driving around town, forcing me to upshift and downshift as needed along with pointing out how you need to look further ahead then when driving a 4 wheeler.

Tomorrow could be a blast as they are calling for snow. haha
Might be pinning to a trailer and bringing that around tomorrow.

    Baack Thanks this.

what is a "Z Endorsement?" and explain the "c license."

Sounds like the Cannuks do things backwards up there.

    Yeah things are different.

Z endorcement is the air brake portion of the licence.

C is a coach licence, over 24 passengers like a tour bus or greyhound but not school bus. The road test I will be doing covers this licence so figure might as well get that too.

Here is a link to them all.

    Today was another good day.

Always start the day off with a proper pre-trip. Then performed a trailer drop and pin back up.

Went driving with the trailer today. It followed alot better than i thought it would do. Took corners nice and wide. No load at the moment. Even started to use the splitter when cruising, next gear would be too low rpm but the engine is running a little high in rpm so switch her and go down like 250 or so rpm.

good to hear you're progressing nicely!!

Here in the states, you can get a "passenger" endorsement, but that covers all busses and shuttles. From coach buses, school buses, and short buses! ;)

Another week of driving has come to an end. Getting the hang of things good now. Biggest thing is to view corners before getting up to them so you can plan. Last thing anyone would want is to go in too sharp and not make it.

Did a little highway run which involved a long hill, splitting gears. Worked out good though!!

The time is just flyin by. The instructor i'm with is getting a different truck once it's gotten an annual and some repairs. Company bought a school in thunder bay which had 2 379's. He is taking the 94, oldest truck in the fleet but it's mint, amazingly clean, c13 cat, 18 speed, 7" stacks, only a small resinator inline. 400K km on it. So i might get to try that if it's ready before i finish the course and road test.

Sounds like it's going well. The next two weeks will be over before you know it. Best of luck. Any idea who you want to drive for once you're done?

Might I suggest MacKinnon from Guelph? They are flatbed and van.

My bro used to drive for them and they have several different boards to choose from. Ontario/Michigan is one I believe. They have drivers frorm all over.

You might want to check them out?
