I finally have a 100% full fleet. It’s been a long time since that’s happened. Certainly precovid. It’s getting easier to hire but still very difficult if your looking for a quality driver. You’ll get 10 bad ones for every 1 that’s worth a real look. Then maybe every other one of those is worth bringing in. I rarely bring someone in for an interview that I don’t end up extending an offer to but I’m pretty picky for sure. There are diamonds in the rough though and they can’t be overlooked either.

You gotta get away from Progressive if you’re running more then a truck or two. One of the best things I did early on. They are a nightmare and always looking to either increase cost or decrease coverage.

You setup with mileage pay for insurance out of curiosity? I don't think I have enough trucks for companies to offer that yet. We also don't run that many miles in the scheme of things either. Seems like a good option for larger fleets though, and makes the cost of having spare trucks extremely affordable it seems.

All full except one I keep as a spare for company or O/O truck down. 10 to 1 calls isn't bad. Must have more patience than I do. LOL

I don’t but they’ve been wanting me too for a few years now. I’m a bit stubborn on the not broke don’t fix it at times and don’t feel like reporting monthly. Insure me and stay out of my business. lol I’ll probably start doing it though. I just did a renewal and am playing with some higher deductibles at 10k. I normally handle anything 10 or 12k and below anyway and it saved me 17k on the bill so seemed like the way to go.

We finally got a full crew on the trucks as of last month. Now, if I just had a good blade man and a couple of Cat skinners...

Almost 113k on truck it is a 2023 Volvo VNL 860 with a D13 at 500 hp with a 12 speed iShift and 2.79 RAR. Also pull dry van freight all over.

He drives 48 MPH and holds EVERYTHING UP. Don’t let him fool you!

I have increased my MPG to 5.4 by doing absolutely nothing about it. Must be that summer blend. I dunno. My buddy with a Cascadia and a 579 doesn’t do much better. This line of work in this terrain ruins any chance of decent fuel mileage.
