Hey all so I’m in a year now and am pretty comfortable but this eastbound 80 at the carquinez bridge closure scheduled for 4 weekends the next few months has me concerned. I routinely travel to San Francisco from Sacramento and wonder if anyone could recommend an easy route to avoid eb 80 on the way back to sac during these closures. Usually hauling 53’ dry vans sometimes 48’.
Ca Bay Area route advice?

You can take I-880 to I-580 from Oakland. To either I-680 north over the Benicia Bridge to I-80 at Suisun. Or stay on I-580 to I-205 through Tracy to I-5 north at Lathrop.

Decider for me would be weight and tolls.
If light head over to I5.... Altimont pass can suck down some fuel if heavy.
If Heavy 680 will eat less fuel but you should be looking at a $27 toll on the Benicia bridge Northbound. -
Thanks I think I’m gonna take 4 to 680 once the closures start and go up from there. Looks like the closure will be on the north side of the bridge so it only adds what like ten miles to the route. Sounds like a noob question I know but I usually follow the same route every day and am… not so good with change. Heh thanks for the replies!
