Ok then we are at the heart of the disagreement . everything else is fluff
Either you believe the idea that cars passing trucks on the right is wildly dangerous and should be avoided at all costs or you dont.
I was trained with this as a huge imperative. I never feel comfortable having 4 wheelers on that side.
Left lane heros

Yeah, they have those in Indiana in some construction zones and when the sign should be followed it’s mostly ignored by the majority of trucks.

But this whole thread is based on running the speed limit in the middle or left lane, regardless of the flow of traffic, and letting everyone else dodge you because it’s safer that way. And you won’t run the left lane when directed to in a work zone because you feel you’re a hazard running the speed limit and not going with the flow of traffic. Seems contradictory to the theme of this thread, after all doing the speed limit and letting people pass on the right is just fine. This thread taught me that.
Jubal Early Times, D.Tibbitt, Siinman and 3 others Thank this. -
To be fair, the numbers adjusted by inflation are not even similar.
Just look at the cost of a home.
In the seventies , a home was never more than two years salary even in the most expensive states.
When you look at higher education its even worse.
No boomers graduated college with lifelong debt.
I am not saying kids today have no chance, but you better believe older generations need to accept the fact that lthey lived in far more prosperous times for blue collar people.
These kids have access to amazing things that you never had.
You also had access to things that are long gone like fairly priced real estate and stable marriages.gentleroger Thanks this. -
I don't believe any generation recently had it better than any other, just different.
But somebody blaming the boomers on their own failure to succeed, ridiculous -

Do you imagine this is because they are all lazy?
Yes I understand that some folks in the 70s still rented at thirty and your son bought a home at 25, but on average things are much much different today.
Should these kids wallow in their misfortune and play the victim? Absolutely not.
Back when those interest rates were brutal , people often saved and paid cash or at least paid down loans very quickly.
30 year mortgages were nearly unheard of
Also most people were thin.
Very very different timesConstant Learner and gentleroger Thank this.
