I get it but my son has done dozens of business transactions by now and he’ll be 7 in august. He knows more about business then a lot of adults. That’s just me though, I take my kids everywhere. We’ve never had a baby sitter and grandparents rarely available to take them.

An increase of 26 units for sale this week. I'm not sure if everyone saw the Taylor Martin auction prices this week but woof. Seemed like some great deals. The auction was in Sioux City and believe that's the best barometer of used pricing since in that area they have all facets of the trucking worlds (grain, reefer, flatbed, etc.).

At this auction, for $73K you could have gotten a 2022 T680 with 455 PACCAR with182K miles. For $5K less you could have gotten one with 220K miles. 2022 389s were going for $155K. Even a 2019 Great Dane reefer with a C600 TK unit went for $31.5K. That was a $60K trailer 18 months ago. This just further points to that the likes of MHC is sitting on some major losses.

I did try to buy a truck again this week but we are getting further apart. They offered me $140K for my 2022 389, which was the lowest trade-in value I've gotten. Funny thing though, they are not accepting any trade-ins unless they are a hood. So you tell me how they are supposed to sell new trucks if they are already excluding a good chunk of potential buyers? And again you tell me when used truck pricing is cratering how new truck pricing has barely budged? For those trucks that sold at auction this past week, I believe you could argue you'd get a better return on investment than

I would have bought that 22 t680 for 73k in a heartbeat. Dealers here are at 70-83k for 2019 t680 daycabs with 300k-400k miles. I'm not interested yet. New Volvo daycabs at 170k small bunk 680 (new) at 190k. Both have dropped 15k. New needs to drop alot. Your right used maybe the way to go the next few years.

Doesn’t look to be slowing down.

For me, what’s interesting is the 579/680 count exceeds everything else, combined. That 680 count (453!), by itself, is a scary number.

I was getting work done on my T680 at our HQ shop, the last couple days. The Volvo/KW dealer next door has so many used units they’ve started another row across the back of the building. These are the clowns wanting over $100K for trucks with 500K-600K miles. There has to be 35-40 of the same units sitting there, now. They must be banking on a huge boom, in the immediate future. Apparently, the decision maker didn’t get the memo. Good luck with all of it, I guess.

Chances are those are trades for new trucks that have been sold. I guarantee they paid way way under market and will make a lot of money on them. If not they’re morons.

Yes. They’re trades from my previous employer. But, I wouldn’t bank on the last part of your statement. Without my previous employer’s business, the dealership would be struggling. My previous employer is large enough the dealership bought a building close to them, put two techs there, and perform all warranty work for them out of that shop. The dealership is definitely on the teat.

Wow, yeah that’s food for thought. Maybe that carrier gets such a big discount that the trade in is equally discounted so that the dealer profits on the back end? Everyone has to make money or it doesn’t work.
