Back in the day we did it with 318 Detroits, just sayin.

425 hp used to be a big dog pulling super b you have 1850 ft lb it will do fine . Might not be the fastest on the hill but won’t be the slowest either .. your jakes will be stronger than many other people also ..

You can hold the auto in gear and run the rpm’s up if that’s what you’re concerned about. But you’ll basically be asking a standard highway spec truck to go do work that isn’t ideal for it.

Kinda interested in what trimac was looking for

Also, your X15 probably has its HP peak at 1600 RPM or higher. You will need to get above 1350 RPMs to pull the hills but you probably will not be in top gear when you do it. If the ECM will not let you exceed 1350 at all then you'll need to take the truck to the dealership and have them adjust the parameters.
And I'm not trying to give you a hard time, but if I were you I would've asked Trimac what specs they require for you to lease on, or at least have bought a truck with the same specs as the company truck you were driving.lester Thanks this. -
A good big cam with 400 stock hp and probably 1250 torque will pull 150k around the hills of West Virginia and the pa turnpike…just not very fast. I do think you will have issues at that rpm with cooling because of low flow from the water pump and also less fan action.
Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
He won’t be pulling any decent grade in bc in top gear so engine should be at the right rpm on the pulls . Trimac may have plenty of company drivers and just used any excuse not to hire a owner op in that area until work picks up more ..
