I wish they would have. I installed a brand new cable to a single antenna mounted on a screw in door mount (that was grounded to the grounding strap for the original OEM antenna with 0 ohms) and I still get 3-4 on the SWR. I tried 2 different mounts, 3 different antennas and two sets of coax. NOTHING changed. I even tried 2 radios. Why? Because I bought a barely used Cobra 29 LX MAX off of someone at a truck stop and wanted to see if it actually did anything more than just turn on (which is all I checked when I purchased it.) I keyed the mic and the display blinked "Antenna error" or whatever it says when it detects high SWR. With the NGP it doesn't do that.

I wound up having to fall back on my NGP Firestick from many years ago. No grounding necessary, just install up high and run the coax to the radio. 1.5 SWR. Good radio reports and good reception. It's all I need. And the color of the antenna matches my truck, even better LOL

That is odd that you're having these problems, even with the bonding on a metal truck. There's nothing wrong with using a NGP antenna as a last resort. I've even recommend the NPG antennas a couple of times to others who were struggling with their antenna problems. To me it's better than nothing. Plus a 1.5 SWR is just fine, no need to get hung up on a 1.1 SWR reading.
