Everyone on FB is posting images of the press releases from Cooper and IBT, but i haven't been able to find anything for verification on the public facing sites, nor any news stories. Strange.![]()

It is legit but I don’t know anymore than you. I was surprised to see it, but it should be good for both companies employees in my opinion. I believe it will definitely eliminate some empty miles. There will always be some who don’t like change, but change is inevitable.

Didn't jack Cooper file bankruptcy a few years ago ?

So, will moore transport drivers be forced to become owner operators? Is it that just simply stating that owner operatorwill become an option?
bzinger Thanks this. -
If Jack Cooper’s purchase of Selland is any guide, which was a similar deal where they only bought the assets, JCT created North American Auto Transport which in essence became Selland under a different name. At the start, NAAT had a Teamster contract but it wasn't as good as the IBT carhaul contract. For instance, JCT trucks could haul out of any NAAT terminal but NAAT couldn't go into a JCT terminal unless it was overflow, just like any outside company. I’ve heard that contract has improved.
My guess is JCT will fold Moore into NAAT with whatever contract they have. -
Before I agreed to leave the best position of my 35 year career with great home time and pay I did my research first. I was personally told by the top leadership with the IBT that what is on this outline and what I was being told by JCT/NAAT senior management was what the IBT had agreed to. I specifically asked about Backhauling towards my domiciled terminal city from a terminal in my residence home city that had been rumored to say “no NAAT rig will be loading here”. IBT informed me that I am a Teamster and will be treated exactly like a Teamster. The same rules will be applied to/for me that are applied to a JCT driver going in for a Backhaul. I expect no special treatment but I expect no special restrictions.

The revenue percentage paid to us is higher, but so are our expenses. That really doesn’t bother me as long as my net is what I project it to be. I am fairly confident I will net more per running mile/week than I did at Hansen. I will be adding to my pension and once again have Cadillac Health insurance to boot. What I am giving up is running the same handful of dealers and being home every other night. I like a challenge and I will eventually find some regular lanes, but nothing I can’t handle. My very worst case scenario is I don’t like it and I sell the truck and retire. I don’t see that happening because I see myself doing this for many years.Last edited: Jul 18, 2023
