Candle sticks please! I run them simply because they were popular growing up in the 80's with guys and big rides around here. Only extra lights you will find on my truck.

I know around here schools do 3rd party testing and a lot of classes are flexible for evenings or even weekends only (Sat & Sun for 10 weeks) to get required hours. It was a lot simpler when I did mine. I rented 30 minutes of practice time on the lot, and tested with a school bus company that did 3rd party class A testing after getting my permit. Took every single one of my 0 minutes of edjumakayshun to fail my first road test.

 

That outfit there wouldn't surprise me a shop built apparatus flip a switch on the dash the oversize sign on the bumper flips down and red OS flags run up the poles.

 

I went to a 3rd party site. Master tech, had to go back to shop and tell them I failed pretrip. I actually was pissed, equipment was not fit for the road and I was paying for it. Went back 3 days later and kept my mouth shut and passed. The owner of the company I worked for still reminds me of his service manager/ big totor driver failed his pretrip. I deserved it.

I had zero real world experience with any of it. Did not understand an unsynchronized transmission at all, let alone what the heck double clutching even meant. Never backed or pulled a trailer, ever. I studied the book, took written test fine. It was bitter cold and windy the day of my first test, and somehow got through my pretrip by vaguely gesturing towards the truck and regurgitating what the manual said about tires, slack adjusters (whatever those things are), etc. Even got through the parking lot test with the cones and parallel parking by some miracle. But road test? If I was the tester, I'd have ripped up my permit. Grind grind grind despite randomly pumping the clutch pedal. Somehow it got into other gears and I got down the road and back running over curbs and sidewalks all the way lol. I wish I could say what model truck or transmission it had, but all I know was it was a 60's Mack day cab with a single axle flatbed and no heat. It wouldn't start when I went back to retest the next weekend, so I passed with an old state truck with a 5 speed and a pintle hitch trailer.

So I've noticed a drop or 2 under the power steering pump for awhile after parking for the night.. Wasn't all to concerned..

Well, few weeks ago the gasket gave up. Pulled in a Casey's, went inside for 10mins, come out to bout 8oz oil on the ground, & oil streaks all down the side of a 20' can I was truck'n for a crane move. Lost over 2 gals in ~190 miles.

Dam upper mounting bolt wasn't even finger tight, so it tore up the gasket. Slowed it enough till I got a new gasket on few days later.
Guess when the oil is pressurized above ~23psi of a Cummins idle, more was passing by the gasket, hence why I didn't see puddles under the truck..?

$12 gasket, down to using 1 gallon every 2500-2800 miles. & after pressure washing the underside, it is amazingly still pretty clean...

 

This fella wasn’t scared of me at all, or the dog. Had to work pretty hard to get him away from the house. Pretty skinny too. Sick.
