So you’re in possession of a 2 year card when you know that it’s supposed to be a 1 year…
What’s the worst thing that could happen?
Personally I’d get it straightened out but that’s just me. At minimum I’d be getting another physical before the second year starts.

What is the worst? Because I feel like I would go back and they could revoke my med card.

Everyone says apnea is a one year card. Can someone back that up with documentation from The dot? I read the entire ME handbook and couldn’t find anywhere we’re it’s says it’s a one year card issue. I’ve been issues two year cards in the past by the same lady that now says I only get a one year card. Next physical I’m asking for some more information. https://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/sites/fmc.../mrb/83401/fmcsamedicalexaminerhandbook_0.pdf
Lonesome Thanks this. -
I have gotten two year cards with sleep apnea. My last two were one year cards, though. I honestly don’t think it’ll be an issue with anyone, particularly since you use the CPAP machine as prescribed, assuming that your machine has a memory card like mine does.
kylefitzy and Gamechangerzz Thank this. -
I also only get 1 year with Machine. They also require proof of use by showing a current sleep report from the machine. Prior was always 2.
OP - I would just keep the 2 year and note it on check in next visit.Gamechangerzz Thanks this. -
thank you so much

“FMCSA regulations do not currently address sleep apnea specifically, the FMCSA does state an individual with a clinical diagnosis or medical history of any condition that could interfere with their safe driving ability can’t be medically qualified to operate a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) in interstate commerce.”

I don’t see anything thing from the FMCSA. Maybe I missed it. There’s several things that directly state you can only me qualified for a one year card in the ME handbook, such as hypertension. Under the respiratory section, every condition listed qualifies for a two year card.Lonesome and Gamechangerzz Thank this.

If you answered truthfully to all of the written questions and also answered the spoken questions truthfully, or none were asked about sleep apnea, I would just accept the 2 year card and keep going. I thought one of the questions on the DOT form is have you ever received a less than 2 year card before? If all of this has taken place and you complied and this is your first DOT exam after you started using the device, I would let sleeping dogs lay/lie/sleep/whatever.Lonesome Thanks this.
