Are these engines interchangeable? If my truck has a dt466 in it, can it be replaced with a dt466E?

Anything is possible, just depends on how deep your pockets are.

I'm not positive but I'm reasonably certain the 466 is a mechanical fuel pump and the 466e is electronic. Meaning you'd need an ecm and appropriate wiring harnesses. Won't be too easy or cheap

I know a 466B will bolt in where a 466A was, but that was 20+ years ago.

DT 466 A & B were fully mechanical, while the E series is full electronic, including most dash gauges.
It may can be done, but I wouldn't try it, even with a donor truck, because the wiring nightmare.
Anyway, a 466 B is a much better engine that is easily turned up, and will give less problems and last longer than early E series engines.Keepforgettingmypassword and 77fib77 Thank this. -
Probably easier to make the electronic engine mechanical.

Most likely by looking at the fuel pump.
