ugg, after a good week i am now at the Wilmer,TX for a 34. Though i would attend a safety meeting that put me a couple hours behind my planned time for the restart to end. But hey, it is -2 safety points, in addition to a log class/warning with -3 points, puts me at 1 now after my +6 points during my first 2 weeks. Live and learn....

As for insurance, I pay $20/week for myself (the wife is covered by her work). I have no idea what spouse or family coverage is these days. Like everywhere else it keeps going up.[/QUOTE]

By the way, Is this good insurance? What is the deductible and copays, office visits etc. Thanks again for the info.

everr, that place you picked up at in tulsa - park in the dirt lot across the street, walk out to the main street where those crazy looking docks are, go left, and walk about a block, on the same side of the street as the bottle plant is a barbecue joint that will floor you.

Trip #9999999 is it, period. Adios, aloha, sayonara, arrivederci!

Crete will cease operations, sell off everything, split the $$ equally amongst everyone, and we all go live happily ever after! :D

FWIW - Anytime you find yourself in a situation like that at a WallyWorld where there are no empty Crete trailers, you can also hook to a Shaffer trailer.

It may limit your load options, as some shippers will not load reefer trailers - but it's been my experience that having a limited selection of loads and being able to run, is far better than waiting around until the Resurrection hoping WallyWorld will shortly unload a Crete trailer.

My hubby used to work for Crete-at first it was a good job-lots of miles. He left a little over a year ago due to sitting and waiting for a load for 3 days at a time frequently. This went on for about 6 months and we had just bought a house. We couldn't live like that. I hope the situation has changed for those who are still with them. He's now with UPS Freight. Mileage is good, but they are definitely a "big corporation" mindset. Lots of safety meetings and impositions on his hometime. They just started a mandatory Sunday morning conference call at 9am bi-weekly. He doesn't get home until around 1am most Sundays. I guess there are going to be issues with any company!

There will be troubles with any company...some more than others, and the big corporation mindset is any company with a safety department.

I see your location is PA, I think we have all sat around in that state at some point. I'm just curious, was your hubby a regional driver?

I need some help here Please!?!!? Here is some choices i have. Laidoff 3 weeks ago and i was doing alot of researching on trucking schools and applying here and there. 1.) Well P.A.M. transportation wants to pay my way through school and then i would have to be with them for over 1 year. The starting rate would be .25 a mile and it seems to be kind of low for starting out. I would also have $45 a week taken out to pay them back for the school.
2.) I can wait until i go through the Unemployment workforce and try to get training through them. They would pay for the school and i would not have to repay the state for the school. Then i would be able to shop around for a company. Unfortunatly Crete does not take CDL school graduates from any schools in NJ. I would have to go with another company for a year or two before even thinkingf about Crete.
Now i am leaning towards #2 since the school will be paid for but what starting rate should i expect to get out there in the trucking world? i know i will get very lucky to get near .30 - .33 the most starting out but hey it is better then workking in a warehouse like i have for the past 15 years. I appreciate all comments and help and this is one great forum for us new wannabes lol.
