I am a high school teacher needing to make extra money during summer break, spring break, fall break, and Christmas break. Weekend runs are also a possibility. I drove OTR for RE West out of Nashville, TN back in '96--for 5 months...couldn't stand being away from my young kids. I've been substitute school bus driving off and on since '03. Does anyone have any info on part time or seasonal driving? I'm planning on fulltime OTR and possibly owner operator once my kids are in college / out of the house. I thought it would be good if I could "ease into" trucking during my breaks as a teacher. Also, I am in desperate need to make more money as my wife is disabled and we are about to lose our house and land. Any advice would be very appreciated. Thanks, Scott.

I would check with local grain or even better, grass/sod companies in your area. That season is coming up and seems to coincide with your needs and the job you presently are working. You may even be home quite a bit or even every day with something like this.
Anything hauled seasonal is worth looking into I suppose. -
This is a good idea. Also some fertilizer companies use drivers.

Maybe look into any of the local beer, soda, food, booze, ect...type companies,....Many of them have seasonal drivers and or helpers for the busy season in the summer,....

Thank you all. And I'll check into those...I know of 2 sod co.'s fiarly close by.
