Left lane heros

I took a lot of heat from some of my family over that but considering the status or success of those that condemned me to those that didn’t at the time I was confident I made the right choice. Now years latter when we gather as a family and I hear the failures and success of the younger ones I know I did the right thing!

I took a lot of heat over it as well. Even got taken to court over it, was paying child support her whole life without a court ruling since it was the right thing to do. Was still helping her like I said but not giving her mom any money and took the control out of her.

So she decided to take me to court at the age of 18 because she found out I was working in the oilfield and making (BIG Money). That was her thought I guess. Ended up costing me to pay almost 1K a month for child support until she was 21.

But ruined our relationship to the point where I had to disown my daughter because of the way she played a part in it. Only just started to kind of talk through text to her recently and it has been 8 years since we had talked. Cost me dearly to stand for what I believe in but it was the right thing to do. She had tried to act like her Mother and think she was Entitled to my money instead of earning her way.

 

It’s always a saddening thing for me when I hear stories like this. Over the weekend I went to visit a good friend that was/is in a situation that sounds similar. He however is not at the point of reconnecting. His ex seems to have manipulated his daughters thought process beyond the point of any reconciliation. My experiance didn’t involve an ex wife and my wife stood with me and echoed my thoughts and words. Actually she was a bit more harsh.

 

Sad times when people use the kids to get what they want. I never understood how someone could be so cold hearted. Seems most have lost the morals in this world and nothing will change them. Just sad!

 

That is a fair point. Counterpoint, I’m comparing my cost then to what it would cost a kid now at the same school. Colorado State University, nothing fancy. Sure you can hit a local CC to get general credits first before heading out to a university, but it is still the same cost difference then to now.

 

His salary is 60k a year Canadian. The headline is he raised this much, but thats the businesses money.

 

It's funny those places are the exception and not the rule. And slow trucks in the left lane cause cluster ****'s. I drive a slow truck now and guess where I always stay when I truck through Nashville? In the right lane out of everyone's way where slow trucks are supposed to be. Merging traffic isn't really an issue because I use my right foot for throttle and brake control as needed. It's lazy and unsafe to hang out in the left lane flat footed for all you got being passed on the left and right by traffic 10mph faster than you. But you do you.

 

Swift passing, always my left lane hero. Nothing like two swifts even, going up a hill, both going 64 miles per hour. That's when I am really proud to see my "heroes".
