1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

    Hello,

I am looking to train with an owner operator who is willing to take on a student from Florida. I currently live in Melbourne FL but am willing to relocate to N. Florida. I am 22 (I turn 23 in March), have a DOT physical good until Aug 2011, and my hazmat endorsement. Also, my driving record is clean as is my criminal record. I do not smoke, nor drink. If you are interested, please pm me with your number. I love to learn and would like this opportunity.

I'm right there with you. I'm not a student, but I'm looking for somebody, anybody who will hire a guy who's just made a few mistakes in his life. I'm in good shape. I don't smoke or drink either. I'm not a strong person, but I've only got a few slow speed accidents spaced out over a few years. I try to learn from my past, but nobody will let me show them how well I drive.

    Double post. oopps. Forgive me.

I would still like to learn from a O/O and would be willing to travel to you providing I can get airfare or bus ticket reimbursed. I have not driven a 10spd in two months so I may be rusty. I love trucking and would like to learn more than driving.

Rug Trucker, I must have missed part of this thread, because I see your reference to Swift. So, my answer may not apply. If not, apologies for wasting anybody's time. I keep meaning to post a "jobs available" ad, and I get sidetracked - stopping at "work wanted" ads to answer. Maybe my answer will attract a good fit.

Kinghunter, this message may be a good one for you. It depends on how close to 1 years' driving you have.

I'm an o\o with a few trucks. My lead driver is a calm guy with excellent habits and plenty to share regarding safety, basic DIY mechanics, good driving, running legally and still arrive early, stretching a dollar, getting return invitations from clients and plenty more that a decent driver needs to know - in other words - an A+ trainer (or, a very cool co-driver).

Our insurance requires a driver have 2 years behind the wheel to be insurable. If you have a minimum of 1 year verifiable driving Semi, I MIGHT be able to make it fly. What did you do before driving> Any other driving> I am new on this board, so I do not have PM capabilities, yet. So, if interested, email your phone number to jakebrake_@hotmail.com. Don't forget the _underscore: jakebrake_. or it won't reach me.

Keep up your enthusiasm, and you'll find driving OTR to be worth all you have to go through to qualify. I'll keep an eye out for your e-mail. Best of luck to you!
