Companies get CSA points for inspection violations. There no such thing as PSP points. A drivers PSP report will show all inspections in the past 3 years, period.
Now some companies use software that does give drivers points for violations, but this is for internal company use by their safety, management etc.aussiejosh, tscottme and wis bang Thank this. -
Wow. Now THAT is a sad commentary about the state of the industry....

Don’t know about gps...but if you’re in a White Volvo with Illinois tags...you’re required to have your laptop open on the dash directly in front of you watching porn

I Don't blame you being scared
4wayflashers Thanks this. -
If you never actually got a ticket and it was just a warning perhaps the officer is hoping you'll be worried like you are and that will be enough to persuade you to avoid doing it in the future? This is another reason why companies are pushing for cameras in trucks and why drivers are against it. Most companies these days will use a computer monitoring service like MT DATA, it can keep track of your hours and make sure you don't break the rules which helps prevent you getting penalties, will also monitor how tired you are, we had these special devices in our seats and if you had a micro sleep it would go off and also send a picture to the firm that controlled MT data if it looked bad they'd send a photo of you to your supervisor who would then phone you and usually ask you to pull over and have nap. Our MT DATA monitored our speeds but only those above 100 km per hour we'd get pinged for even doing 1 km over the limit, but the boss would not worry about that, some drivers would go out and get 100 of them in a return trip there'd usually be 4 zones only the last two would if you got caught speeding in these zones would you get called into the office with a please explain as our trucks were limited to 100 km per hour (62 mph) anyway, it was near impossible to go more than 3 km over the limit except down a hill.

A "warning" issued on a Vehicle Inspection Report is just a PSP violation that can't be disputed, because it's just a warning.
4wayflashers and 77fib77 Thank this. -
As I understand it there is really no such thing as a warning with a CDL in a commercial vehicle. I guess the difference is no fine out of pocket, and like you said, you cant dispute it.
His is also for using a GPS and from what my driving school said like 10 years ago, the only acceptable handheld device was for navigation. But he got a warning so he cant dispute it even if that is an actual exception.
EDIT: I was way off on the points. Here’s what FMCSA says on their website.
392.2-INATƱ Inattentive Driving Dangerous Driving 5 Y Added in 3.0.5
So 5 points and it is a violation dangerous driving category. Texting is 10.
