This is way past getting out of hand! Its just plain ridiculous!
Some of us could actually stand to GAIIN a few pounds! I'm 6'3" and weigh 212 pounds. Mama tries to fatten me up every time I'm home! When we met 4 years ago, I was only 198 and yes, I eat a lot of food everyday!
One can only imagine what's next.

The government is going to control everything if people dont stand up and say NO!simplyred1962 and TXtrucker71 Thank this. -
The people aren't going to say no because they think that the gov't can do no wrong and it is their job to follow what the gov't says. People now have no idea what freedom is. Heck, most have been sucking the gov't teet for so long they prolly couldn't survive without it! When you take away freedom slowly over time, people don't mind. Which is what we have here. They just don't know to compare and they don't have the backbone to stand up to it. Most folks are more worried about consuming things in life than they are about their freedoms. As long as they have their flat screen tv, cable and a cell phone....they could care less.

I also like a good buffet, with any/all foods I like, and soda to go with, should I choose soda over water (which they still charge for a drink, in lots of places!)
What I DO NOT like, is the government trying to tell me where/when/what I can eat/use/enjoy.
Some of these are frivolous, to be sure....but the principle BEHIND the BASIC freedoms certainly are not.

We don't need taxes to prevent morbidly obese children, we need safe areas our children can run and play in without being kidnapped and possibly killed! We had soda and pizza when I was young without an obesity problem when I was a kid. Why? Because we got to go outside and play! Instead of taxing people, lets do something about all the freaks out there preying on our children!

Parents have alot to do with this. Some time ago, there used to be one working parent only. The other was at home doing what she does best. Raising kids and being motherly. Promoting her kids to do things, play football, baseball or what have you. Now, both parents work and have no clue where their kids are most of the time nor any idea what they are doing. When the parents come home, they are too tired from work or what have you. Then said child sits in front of the TV and plays video games. Why? Because "parents" (a term I use loosely) are too busy to be parents for their kids. So now the parent is the tv. Not alot of exercise going from the couch to the kitchen is there? -

How did we get from the government wanting to do something as utterly ridiculous as over-taxing pizza and soda, to someone's opinion of what "good parents" should be doing???
Shall we get back to the original topic, please?

Hey there is a reason God made woman's feet smaller *snickering*
Ok seriously how did we get to the good vs bad parenting? Easy because the rate of childhood obesity is going up at alarming rates. Don't blame the food, parents aren't finding ways to make their kids active.
playing outside with friends - oh no he/she can get injured
sports? - nope he/she could get injured or lose and be ridiculed thus deflating their self esteem.
pe? - see sports
Now, how does this equate to bad parenting? Parents are acting like the US government, give everything to hostile forces (aka children) so that other governments don't say bad things about you. Then when we have a fat kid who is being carried food from the kitchen to the bedroom we wonder "where did it go wrong".
