Also with trailers in Tejas all you need to register their carry capacity for is half of there empty weight. So you can theoretically register a semi trailer for under cdl requirements. It comes in handy for moving our storage trailers around to different customers.

Cop was wrong and shouldn't have taken your plate. I'd be finding out about that.
Should have just gotten a fine and told to unload.
My first overweight was a local job. Cop was hanging out at the dump site doing random inspections. #1500 over on trailer. $50 fine.
My second was Oregon. #2200 over on bridge. Legal for every state but oregon. $300 fine.
Neither took my plates. -
RI and NH DOt would just sit in the scale house of the landfill and watch trucks roll across
MA and ny are both good for 102k on 5 axles, you can do 99k in VT with 6 and NY was 107 for 6, CT is a strict 80 bridge law state, we were on a big project hauling sludge out of CT, paid tonnage, loading overnight and rolling out about 3-4am, (sure you can see where this was going) went well for a while, until it didn’t, tail truck got grabbed about 4 miles from the MA line, 28k over, had to bring it down to 80 but they never touched the plateSiinman Thanks this. -
Personally I think east coast states are idiots allowing that much weight without the braking power to stop it.
Specially considering most don't take care of their trucks. Or their brakes.
I'm surprised there aren't more homicide accidents announced in any type of news.
On the west coast. Gots to have the axles to haul the weight. -
We ran Canada at 101k on 6 axles and didn’t have any issue stopping. And hey run 140k on 8 up there versus our 105k on 8 down here.

Honestly I don’t think there’s any reason why you shouldn’t be able to run 100k on 5, trucks handle and brake just fine, let alone on 6, extra axles just add extra weight abd extra wear and tear, but the railroads and the teamsters will never allow it so.

The only thing I noticed is it rode a lot better in the States on 8 axles versus having two axles in the air in Canada with the same weight.

I thought you have to either have IFTA and IRP or a temporary fuel and trip permit when traveling out of state in commerce, regardless of weight.

You need ifta and irp just to be on the streets and highways.
Only a handful of states require trip permits or a quarterly account. It's extra tax revenue for them.Sons Hero Thanks this.
