Its not like he didn't do his due diligence on the purchase either.

How did he get a title when he bought it? Did anyone actually look at the VIN on the door panel and the dash to compare and verify?

    They used a switched/fictitious VIN.
The new Broncos haven’t been on the market for very long so generating a VIN shouldn’t be easy. Yet somehow the VIN check done by a third party in Arizona and Carfax didn’t trigger any red flags.
Nowadays a lot of manufacturers also stamp the VIN on the body of the vehicle (on the firewall, chassis, etc).

    Another question.
He bought the Bronco on Craigslist, then 3 weeks later he's trying to trade it in for a new pickup. I would think his trade in value would be a lot less than the $75,000 he paid for it?
Something about this story just doesn't smell right.

So don't these brand new vehicles have any sort of tracking? How the hell does a $100,000 truck get stolen from the factory? You'd think a place like that would be locked down tight.

You'd be surprised, many new vehicles are stolen from storage lots. Thousands of vehicles in a single lot, no way to effectively manage keys, so the keys are left in them.

GM has had issues with thieves swiping Camaros from the storage lots at the Lansing(Michigan) plant where they’re built. So it’s nothing new.
