Don't take all of the negative advice to heart my friend. If you want a road ready truck for 5gs then do a lot of looking and be careful of the real old trucks because you may not be able to find parts any more, so call and find out before you buy. As for the negative O/O you would be mad to if you gave 120gs for a truck and found out the guy down the road gave 5gs and is making as much money as you right. hehehe good luck

    Scud Runner Thanks this.

Well, a lil update, I'm going to quit Sysco and go drive for a company called DTS. They say I will make more than I'm currenty making. Plus no more back breaking work unloading trucks all day. So, I can save more for a truck. I had to do some house repairs that ate my savings. Hopefully one day I can buy my truck, we'll see.

It goes OK my friend. Should be running harder than I am, that's for sure. I'm getting creative with excuses. The war department (my wife) is getting suspect though....

That's good to hear you can take it somewhat easy now and then lol. The company I'm going to go with runs spread axle reefers. How are they to run? Is there a lot of DOT headaches in some states?

I've not had any headaches. In fact before I got my PrePass, the last scale I had to drive through, once the scalemaster saw my trailer, he just green-lighted me through. They pull pretty easy and ride VERY smooth. They're a different animal when backing, but you get the knack soon enough. What's not to like?

If you only have $5000.00 then save up. The age of the truck only becomes serious when you find that a lot of companies want 5 years and newer. We bought 2 Columbia's for $11,100.00 and they are really nice trucks. Still had a fan hub bearing go out on the top of Sandstone Mountain in Va. -------1154.00 to get a call out repair for something that normally cost around $ 600.00.
NO NOT. In case I didn't type that right----NO NOT go out broke. Even if you run under a carrier MC you have about a grand in Lincse fees. Add Bobtail, unladen liability, IFTA fees, and a lot of other fees and we clunked down a few more thousand. We are still waiting for our first settlement so pulled the trucks. We had money and now are broke. Don't forget the 2290 fees.
