yungtrucker, looks as if you've been trucking 2 yrs. do you really think you have enough experience to tell someone that they would be broke in 5 mo? now,if you have tried leasing or o/o,then you definitely made a mistsake because you don't have enough experience! i am an o/o, and have been for 15 yrs. if i was to go with a co. as a l/o, it would be jct.

L O L, buy your own truck. Payments are cheaper. I almost fell into the Lease to own (steal) deal. Good Luck on your decision. As always = Drive Safe

no drivruyer, you will not be able to lease a brand new truck from the start. You have to take whats avalible at the time, If you want a new truck you would have to keep the lease on the older truck for a year or two before the invest a new truck on you. Yes they will give you the miles you need to make money. But the headache aint worth it. Meaning, " they wont reshedule loads. I worked there for 6 months and I had to run Illegal 90 precent of the time, And the company will badger you to death. They say they don't micro manage but that is a lie. they will ride you like white on rice. And clearing about 800 to 1200 a week and having to put up 25 percent for taxes aint worth it.

You get to pick of whats avail, but can trade up after 90 days. Check out the "JCT" thread, 400+ pages of info, from successful JCT drivers. Some can make it, some can not. I think with most biz, if you are willing to work hard, be smart, you can make it well enough. NObody is going to give you a hand out.
Don't see these drivers being badgered, micro-managed etc. These folks are working hard, doing it right and making a buck or 2. Don't know what or why didn't make it after 6 months. Don't see a single person on the "JCT" thread not making it.fr8tshkr Thanks this. -
He's too scared to contue postin on the real jct thread. So he comes here and spew his worthlessness. Running illegal is totally up to YOU!!!! They don't drive your truck.
If you day you run illegal and only make 800-1200 u should stay with a company driver. At 3000 miles I can bring home 1200. Obviously you're doing something wrong!!!fr8tshkr Thanks this. -
Considering that I am a truckers wife, My husband and I started out with Central as a Company Driver, Barely made the $$$ to meet anything, Finally the 3 months went by and the offer of the Lease Purchase Program became available, He jumped on after my own personal money crushing was done. I asked for all information to make sure that in the fact that the miles were good, pay, amount of truck, truck ins., along with prepass etc.., and the child support was going to give us enough to live off of. I took off quite a few of these un-needed items, along with their so called maintainance account, along with amount for fuel, based it off of the national standards,I dropped his amount down to $770.10 a week, and we should have had $1000 each week # the least amount, when he drives he drives #### good. Good Truckers know when to do their job right and how it needs to be done, (gloating here sorry) . Anyways, on the brighter side the Company did allow him to do his job to the best of his ability. But he had a crappy dispatcher at first, he fired him and then got another, Well she had Cancer and had to keep having days off, well obviously, that didnt work out. once he got in with the dispatcher that knew how to do his job and his responsibilities to the drivers he was good to go brought home very good $$$. the bad part of this story is that this dispatcher happened to have a death in the family and the guy couldnt keep doing his job. lyed to my husband saying that their's no loads out there, which is ########(excuse my french) their are tons of loads everywhere. So the last option, of course he quit and now we get a $8000 bill and his DAK is messed up, of course, now he went to another company as a company driver making less then $500 a week and now another company as a company driver too having it vary from $25- $800 a week, well, this company has been screwing him over pretty bad, and we tried to get him into JCT before and they turned him down because he didnt have the amount of time required, now he has much more and he wants to check back in with them to see about going with them, he was making much more money as a L/O.
We need to know what exactly we would be getting into if we went with JCT? being after all of that said, we cant go through this stuff again, he is a really good #### driver, only gets pissed off when our b-days come around because those are our holidays to us, dont really care much for national holidays an such. just want a company to be able to make sure that home time that is put in WILL be home for it. I know that the option of buying a truck from the actual dealer is better but how much better is it? -

do not count on JCT for what you want. -
My suggestion is to have your husband stay as a company driver.
If he wants to become an owner op then he should go through a dealer or 3rd party lease agency to secure a truck. At least this way he can switch carriers when he wants and he gets to take the truck with him. Otherwise he will wind up losing his maintenance account along with the truck when he leaves.
Be advised lease ops do not normally make more than a company driver. After truck expenses, insurances, and ALL taxes are factored out the lease op will normally net less money overall than a company driver that turned the same amount of miles during the year.
Most young families will need medical insurance as well so be prepared to spend 100 to 200 (or more if they are an independent contractor) per week for this as well.
Note a "good paying company job" will offer medical, dental, vision, 401k, life/disability insurances as well as paid holidays, sick days, personal days, and vacation.
An independent can have all the above as well "IF" he can set aside enough money each week to fund these bennies.
