Two tier wages have got to go in my opinion. It isn’t good for the company or the workers to have two groups of people doing the exact same job and one making substantially less than the other. I am ok with a short probationary period to prove oneself as I have done that myself in a past job. If you compare the UAW Assembly workers pay to a UPS driver it isn’t even close anymore as UPS far exceeds the auto workers pay. I wouldn’t trade my job to work on the line at any manufacturing plant, it’s not as easy as some think it is. The wife was a nurse at the local Ford plant and saw first hand the damage that job did on the bodies of the new people who came from non physical jobs chasing the long term money and benefits of the UAW job.

I don't fully agree. All the manufacturers need to do is take a hardline and refuse to budge. Workers will either strike until they cave or the manufacturers decide the market is starved enough to start production again.

And, so it begins. Every driver I’ve talked to, on various part runs to various plants, have had the rest of their loads cancelled, for the week. There were only a few trucks in the KC plant, last night.

Let them strike, lock them out, and let the Koreans and Japanese pick up the scraps.

They can take their 32 hour work week and 44% raise and shove it.

My issue is I live by myself, so a single income. And, because my life has been a trainwreck, I only have enough savings for ~3mos.

Thats possibly 2 months more than most of the plant workers. They will only get $500 from union, while striking. Much less that half of what they are used to taking home. A strike would not go on for months....

Wonder how management will react to strike, they have inventory waiting to be shipped,by truck or rail.Wonder if the teamsters will honor strike, that would hurt.If the union car haulers work and clean out inventory that will mean overtime for the autoworkers when they come back.

    bzinger and dwells40 Thank this.
