Usually the problems aren't created by the OS update, but by the programmers not updating their programs to meet the new processing. That's why usually 1-2 weeks after an OS update you'll see a large number of apps needing updates themselves, and the problems ironing themselves out.

I spent most of last weekend downloading and installing updates for the hardware in my laptop, and now it's running almost like new at 5 years old.

 

That’s why I always try to wait several weeks to do the updates. By then most of the Oops bugs have been fixed and apps are ready to update as well.
