Had my first run in with a moron while riding. Dumb #### drifted about 3 feet into my lane, almost hitting me while doing 100 km/h. Must've been checking out the bike because everyone in the vehicle was giving me the thumbs up while I returned a single digit salute of a different kind. Didn't trust them so I slowed down and took the next exit for the back road home. Avoidance seems to be the best defense in these situations.

Round here folks like rye or wheat for cover crop. Rye grows faster and tall and a lot cheaper than clover or any hay typeexhausted379, singlescrewshaker, Isafarmboy and 3 others Thank this.

In big fields, right? You can harvest those mechanically. We grow it up here in rotation with corn. Pretty sure the corn stays local for the dairy industry but the soybeans must go somewhere else. Are yours for direct people food or oil or??singlescrewshaker, CAXPT, cke and 2 others Thank this.

Oh that's very interesting. What got you looking at cattle beans? For home consumption or small market or big market?
Ive seen niche dry bean growers becoming more common online. The Internet is an amazing thing sometimes. Heirloom beans have become an interest for foodies as well as hippies, bunker-stockers, all kinds of people.singlescrewshaker, CAXPT, cke and 4 others Thank this. -
Those are both grains, right? I don't know much about rye. My experience with cover crops is large home garden scale, 4'*80' rows, nothing mechanical for planting or harvesting. The covers were for weed control and soil amendment. Would those grain covers get tilled in? Do you let them grow to full maturity? What do they contribute to the soil or is that even a consideration?Nostalgic, singlescrewshaker, CAXPT and 2 others Thank this.
