I'd get one form Radio Shack instead. It'll be a little more than the ones in a truck stop but worth it.
spawn9856 Thanks this. -

I just wanted to add this information too. On most radios, especially the Cobra 29 units, if the radio has had a swing kit / modulator installed, this will throw off the alignment for the SWR light calibration. Most guys will install a mod kit and never change the alignment VR6 for the SWR warning light, and then they beat themselves trying to solve SWR issues, when there actually is none at all. This is why an external SWR meter is recommended. And anyone who trusts a built in SWR meter in a radio is going to have issues from the start anyway, they are as accurate as throwing hand grenades.

never trust the built in SWR meter.

Cobra 29???? Does it have a modulator kit in it?????

This statement is simply not true, most are more than enough. Unless its a certified meter like a Bird there going to be off but not enough to make any real difference as a rule.

If you want a Xmit Lamp on your antenna, go to Radio Shack and pick up a Xeon lamp and tie-wrap it to the top of your antenna, no electrical connection needed it will light up when you transmit, just kind od cool...

mine on my 4 wheeler says i have a perfect 1:1 SWR.

Eh, the meter on the cobras is way too small to make an accurate reading on. But i've tuned antennas on them and always worked great..
Thats interesting but totally not what this thread is about at all.Sandfisher Thanks this. -
Is your radio is peaked? Running an amp? If so you could have blown the blub. They don't like high wattage. I killed a few without an amp.
