The company pays liability and cargo. The leased pays for his non dispatched insurance to include any other requirements from lender if there is one. Most companies don’t pay for your truck insurance when it is parked at your house and your crazy ex gets drunk and vandalizes your rig then commences to fall off the catwalk and breaks her ankle.

I have been reading the above thread. My question is similar but regarding a hotshot under 26,001lbs. Can a GA driver with a GA tagged truck drive under a NC motor carrier that provides the liability and the cargo insurance? Can his truck remain tagged in GA and be insured under NC commercial insurance? Truck is ONLY being driven for commercial use.

I’m just starting my own authority, and trying to learn how to acquire drivers to lease on to my authority. But I have no idea how to make contracts, create documents to cover me, deduct my pay from his/ her paycheck, driver packages along with everything else. Where can I get all of this from? How can I get started? Someone pls help.

Im in the process of starting my own authority and I would like to know, how do I get everything I need once I lease an owner operator to my authority? I have no idea where to get a driver package, drug test, contracts, and a way to deduct my finances from his/ her check to ensure I get paid? Is there a company out there that performs this, or who must I consult to get the process started? Im nervous as I’m a novice doing this but wanted to start making real money vs the 9-5

I pretty much made everything from scratch. MVR request form, contractors contract, policy’s, equipment issue, ACH forms, non disclosure, etc.. It’s your contract and admin. Own it. As long as you’re not breaking any laws.. it’s your rules. The exception was the application and drug screen policy. Got those from NASTC.
This may help to get you started.

-Compliance is a real thing. Even though they will be a contractor serving your enterprise, the fmcsa sees it differently. They will hold you responsible for compliance. - Safety, training, etc

If you are serious of running a company it doesn’t hurt to be educated. College, experience in HR, corporate office, law, or personnel management. Otherwise you may be half stepping onto a contractor with expectations and overcharging. Before you take the step, I recommend you be fluent in your endeavors.
