I wouldn't say any driver of a vehicle (I don't care 4 wheeler or 18 wheeler) is stupid! They just don't have common sense to think what might happen ahead and they are in a hurry to get their destination (drivers so they can get a new load).
I feel drivers might slow down if the economy would figure out how to pay you other than by miles. Hourly could be hard, but there has to be a better way to pay drivers to satisfy the HOS AND the DRIVER. Come on guys think? What would make you pay wise happy with the current HOS regulations? There just has to be some way? :smt031 HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!
Why are 18 wheelers always causing accidents?

Im the son of a trucker so naturally I am more biased to the truckers veiw. However its more often then not the cars fault. I run into similar problems that truckers do like being cutoff and passed just to have them slow down when im simply in my pickup pulling a car trailer but its not as common. If you drive a car what would it hurt to give a truck a few extra car lengths or a block or two to get up to speed from a red light. If your at an intersection and he (or she) is having a hard time making the corner you could back up a few feet to make their lives less stressfull making them safer overall. If you honeslty think its the trucks fault wouldnt you want to make their lives easier making them safer drivers. One accident my dad was in that I still cant beleive happend like so, he was on a run to Chicago and while going through the intersection a car ran a red light and hit his trailer head on. The insurance company claimed no fault which to me is absurb that person should have there liscense revoked permantly because it was purely his fault not the car nor my dads but thats just some of the #### that happens on the road.

I have always said that when people go to get their licence to drive a car they should teach them how to drive around big trucks, they should teach these people to stay out of blind spots, teach them that trucks need more time to stop etc, most of these people don't have a clue because they know nothing about trucks and nobody taught them,
I agree that there are idiot truck drivers and some that should not be driving trucks, and some that do cause accidents, but to say that trucks cause accidents is not very realistic,
I see a lot more accidents involving cars hitting other cars than trucks causing accidents. Everybody is in such a hurry all the time and they all have that "me first" attitude, they have to get ahead of the guy in front of them at all costs. I see cars driving dangerously every day, aggressive drivers, speeders, drivers cutting in and out of lanes, and distracted drivers.
I drive over a 100,000 miles a year, I've only ever had one accident in my life, and it was the cars fault because she was distracted by her cellphone and she lost control of her car and hit me
I always try and be a courteous driver, I don't tailgate cars, I don't cut people off, I obey the speed limits, I find it is more stressful to try and drive fast than to just go with the flow of traffic, you really don't save any more time by try to drive faster and you only end up getting slowed down and have to speed up again -
My husband has almost had several accidents because of some stupid 4 wheeler who doesnt have the courtesy to use a blinker. He also has seen accidents that were the truckers fault because A)he/she fell asleep at the wheel or b)he/she died at the wheel of some cause that could not have been prevented I wont say they DONT cause accidents but Big Rig accidents arent ALWAYS the truckers fault. I think this person is talking out of pure fear of big trucks!

i read the "if you can't see my mirrors i can't see you" on a truck a LONG time ago. it registered in my brain .
maybe it is the ADHD working to the positive.
but, i am always looking around. in my mirrors,at the road ahead, road signs, car tags, ETC.
it may bite me someday, but i just look everywhere all the time while driving.
does anyone else do this?
do y'all think it is distracting or helpfull?
i can(usually) even spot a vehicle coming up through traffic behind me on the highway (and will surrender the left lane if in it) and move out of their way.(i have seen toooo many people not realize an emergency vehicle was coming up behind them until the last second)
i just think some have the mentality that "i am in my lane obeying the speed limit, to heck with everyone else" -
Study was done on that 90 mi stretch due to all the lethal accidents. Found big rigs involved in 60% of all accidents, but caused less than 10%. Fast-moving, heavy traffic with an accident in front will 'suck in' a big truck and create havoc!! B careful yall when you run that stretch of ****!

There was an insurance company study just finished which found that over 95% of truck /car accidents were the fault of the car so just because you may see trucks in accidents doesn't mean the trucks are causing accidents
