Good luck! Next hometime, I'll be going to get my tanker endorsement and beginning the process of adding Hazmat back on. There's a company that wants to speak to me in person. Hopefully it will lead to a new career.

LOL yeah man..I'm 15 almost 16 yrs in, pulling 53 footers..Looking to make a switch to gas soon..Like you said a year ago,"u can't run like u want anymore".. right now i'm getting 1800-2500 a week and that's being gone 2-3 weeks at a time..may as well haul gas,be home everyday and make about the same chedda..people will always need food and gas..
Bi-lo/C and S Grocers doesn't seem like the company it use to be..as Wal-mart has been killin them and others..so I'll pass on the grocery hauling..
Florida Rock and Tank may be opening a terminal in Belton,SC..Looking for an exp hauler to run out of that area..had an ad in the Sunday paper(3/14).. Oh yeah, watched a driver dropping diesel this week in Va and a little fuel ran out of the hose as he was taking it off the trl..he used a towel to clean up the mess(just a small spot)..What kinda towel is this?
It cleaned it up like a Bounty paper towel..

I agree, do not work for Coastal. Also, I agree with the post except you have to work 11 or 12 hour days and that gets old real quick. With otr, I get to rest, relax a bit, albeit away from home. The fact is, for most of us, being home isn't all it's cracked up to be. I would suggest to anyone wanting a switch, only work for a company hauling their own product. 1. Exxon/Mobil 2. Love's (I averaged 64K over 3 yrs) 3. Pilot 4. Fying J 5. Stay where you are. 6. Wait for Obama Socialist State Natl. trucking co. to start hiring in your area. Should be exempt from all the regs, taxes, fines, lawsuits, mandates, etc...and hey, it will be a union job hauling govt. waste!! Now thats a dream.

Question for you fuel haulers. How do you handle all the fumes every day? I have thought hard about taking a local job hauling fuel, but I just don't think I could handle breathing gas fumes every day of my life. How bad is it?

Believe it or not theres not many times you would have to breath the fumes, other than maybe puttin your hoses away you may get a good wiff if you make it a habit or running them by your face but I wouldn't advise that:biggrin_25513: and im sure that after you do it one time you wont do it again. Other than that its an awesome job, and if you have the oppurtunity to get into it, and you have good atteention to detail I say go for it! Best of luck to you!
