I ve been reasing up on UAW issue. 2019 strike lasted 40 days. So my guess that any strike would be short, is only a guess much like my lucky lotto numbers are..... uaw has funds for 3 months of 143000 people getting 500 a week strike pay. But people who have everything to have on payments prob. Cant last very long on that.
UAW gave a lot of slack in 2008-9 that they have not gotten back, so theres that pushing union members.
Counter offers from big 3 are low ball to uaw high ball of 46% And 32 hour work week with 46% is a cowpie that wont get thrown far. Both side need to cave quite a bit to be in middle ground.
My October retirement may be sept. Who knows :dontknow:

I worked for Detroit Diesel for 17 years was involved with many startup projects, they had pie charts showing expense, labor cost was smaller than advertising and engineering cost.

Big three left me as a customer on the sidelines. I just didn’t want to give up as much as they wanted for one of their 4x4 trucks. So I went to Toyota. It seems to do the job for less. Hearing about the strike, I’m sure they will compromise and the uaw will get more money. Trucks will get even more expensive. I’m not in their market anymore. Not paying 50-70 k for a 4x4 pickup truck. I want reliable, simple, and affordable for my family vehicle.

I wouldn't cross a picket line even if they were asking for 100% raise. I worked through the 40 year decline Shaun Fain refers to, I'm with the workers.

I've been hearing some plants will keep working till they run out of parts. Then the workers get laid off unemployment instead of strike pay.Not sure about it but wouldn't surprise me .In the 80s worked at Cadillac plant in Detroit, they moved our work south and wanted us to train the plant workers who got our jobs.I told them what they could do.

They are looking for a 4 day work week.I know skilled trades where I used to work, He's a leader knocking on 200k this year ,he lives in the plant though.
