Stuff like this just pisses me off. If I got a ticket for going that fast on my motorcycle I would lose my CDL. He should lose his Peace Officers certification at the very least. And the trooper who wrote the ticket should get way more than a one day suspension. Such abuse of authority. But if I get a speeding ticket that threatens my job there is now precedent that " speeding is not inherently immoral", whatever the hell that means, and my attorney now has proof to help me keep my license.

Beats me.

Better read it a little slower...the department fired the cop for that reason and others...but the court tossed out the termination ....don't go speeding thinking this will act as precedent!25(2)+2 Thanks this.

Not quite the court, but close enough...And I never said I was upset with the city of Gahanna for firing him, they still don't want him back. How can he ride a crotch rocket while he was on medical leave?? It's ridiculous the abuse of power these officers and their unions display.
So now does the Columbus Firefighter who shot his two dogs before he went on vacation because he didn't want to pay for boarding, does he get to sue to get his job back because shooting dogs has nothing to do with fighting fires?
-
are you serious? When did this happen...unbelievable!

The motorcycle portion of this thread reminds me of a fatal motorcycle accident in Columbus, Ohio about fifteen years ago. I had to detour and drive the wrong way on the boulevard leading into the brewery due to the accident. A crotch rocket had hit the curb at a high rate speed while passing a beer hauler. I spoke with the truck driver. News reports later revealed that the rider was an off-duty officer. The worst revelation was that the dead rider's buddies were also off-duty officers and they had left the scene.

Anyone else notice that this happened in August and he has been on injury leave from falling on the ice since 2008?
from article
Although Thomas is back on the police department payroll, Bell said the officer is still on injury leave for an on-the-job slip and fall on ice in 2008. Bell said he has no idea when Thomas will be back in action.
The mediator's decision allows the city to suspend Thomas for 90 days, which a city news release said will begin whenever he comes off injury leave. -
Two sets of rules.
One for the govt folk
and
One for the rest of us.
The govt folks can change the rules any time they see a benefit to doing so. The rest of us can get bent! -
Reminds me of a big outdoor bash they had for the N E Patriots here a few years ago they just got there Championship rings that day and had a huge party at a outdoor night club. All the cops working details at the club($40.00 Per Hour) were drinking all night and got hammered started shooting out the street lights and letting people drive the cruisers. Not a thing happened to them they all still have there jobs. If we did that we would have been arrested and lost our gun license.
