Central Transport is hiring in my area (Tifton Ga) starting at $24 hourly, but a couple of the reviews state that they don’t pay overtime until you’ve worked 55 hours. How true is this? It’s a local job (I have no desire to do OTR), and doing the math, I would still earn more from a 50 hour work week than I would at my current job at $18.50 ($1,200 gross vs. $1017.50 gross) with OT after 40 hours. Nevertheless, the difference isn’t huge. It’s another P&D job, but the ad seems to indicate you unload with a forklift, so maybe it’s not physically demanding.
My current job is not a bad job by any means, but the pay isn’t the best. And working there all my life until I retire wouldn’t be too bad. Nevertheless, if I can find somewhere that pays better, naturally I’d like to. So does anyone have any experience working for this company?

They have a horrible reputation, out here in trucking. There’s a reason.
Rideandrepair, LtlAnonymous, Lonesome and 5 others Thank this. -
That seems to be the case regarding a lot of the reviews on Indeed. Of course, you always have to take those reviews with a proverbial grain of salt. Some knuckleheads who are lazy, or are bad drivers, etc. get fired and then want to leave a bad review. Other times you’ll see a positive review that I’m convinced is someone from management trying to boost their reputation.Rideandrepair and Chinatown Thank this.

If you can find some drivers who work there now you'll get a better picture of what they're like. Most reviews are either phony or temper tantrums.Magoo1968, Rideandrepair, Opendeckin and 2 others Thank this.

Central isn't your best choice.
That said, in regards to the 55 hour thing, trucking companies are exempt from normal ot requirements.......since about 1934.
In Tifton, you have your choice.....off the top of my head, there's ABF, Avrett, and Saia.....plus a few more local folks.
You could do better than Central. Take your time and look around.
Good luck.LtlAnonymous, Lonesome, Flat Earth Trucker and 5 others Thank this. -
Your currently driving a truck for $18.50/hour??
The McDonald's by me is starting at $19.00/hr for burger flippers...
I have no idea how these trucking companies can pay so low....Magoo1968, LtlAnonymous, Matt1924 and 2 others Thank this. -
I’ve only pursued one job on Indeed (forgive me, I was desperate). I went to work for a well-known, worldwide corporation. Their crappy reviews were, Indeed, accurate. I totally regretted going to work there. If word on the street is bad, they are, Indeed, bad.

Because people still show up for the pay.Rideandrepair, LtlAnonymous, Lonesome and 2 others Thank this. -
well actually, i have "some" experience with them.
at the time, you had to work the docks, and many were open, i mean literally just a roof over your head, in the brutal winters.
then they had a piss poor health plan from Cherokee, which you had to pay for, as they had no Blue Cross insurance.
you got paid hourly, and no OT just straight time.
the equipment wasn't even fit to house homeless people.
a few other things, that i cannot recall right now
those reviews i just read are spot on.
and those are current.>!!!
i'm going back like 20--25 years ago..!!!!!
it's a "rotating door" company
so RUN Forrest, RUN...!!!!!!!!Speed_Drums, Rideandrepair, LtlAnonymous and 4 others Thank this. -
Because trucking is better than flipping burgers.Rideandrepair, LtlAnonymous, lual and 1 other person Thank this.

I'd work at McDonald's for $19.00 before I drove a truck for $18.50 no doubt about it.Rideandrepair, LtlAnonymous, LoneRanger and 3 others Thank this.
