Well, according to zip recruiter (consider the source) Amazon drivers CAN make as little as 32,500 a year. So technically he isnt lying. The AVERAGE Amazon driver makes 118k (doesnt say if thats before expenses or after, I suspect thats before, but I have nothing to base that on). So after expenses I would think that a good number of at least LTL drivers make more (a lot make more BEFORE expenses - see UPS).

I make 112k a year working 1 day a week (seriously I do - before expenses - dedicated run), so my personal opinion of what Amazon drivers make isnt real high. Add to that the fact that I would guess that 50% of the breakdowns and wrecks I see (in Wisconsin) are Amazons, well....

I saw an Amazon sitting on the side just past Roberts (exit 10 on I-94) with a Loves tire truck just rolling up and he didnt have a sliver of rubber left on his left steer just last week...

Yeah, there is a BIG difference between NET and GROSS income. The old myth of the $100,000/yr company fleet driver used to be actually as rare as a hen's tooth (probably only a few very well-connected teamsters..) to being just barely attainable today due mostly to inflation. I STILL challenge any COMPANY driver to post a copy of his W2 form that shows them making $100,000 last year. Remove your personal info for sure, but just post that W2 showing six figures; I dare ya! Only W2's; a 1099 means you are not a company driver. Lease-to-own doesn't count (although I suspect the vast majority of those guys are doing even worse than company drivers..).

Now, I'm sure there are some 'independents' out there clearing $100k net, but then, they aren't employees, they are independent businessmen. Still, from what I've seen, at least 50% of all O/O's seem to be just barely scraping by....

Yes, it's so. EVERYBODY knows that company drivers earn less than they'd make on welfare. Now where did you get that hat?

Lonesome and TB John Thank this.

Not me. I make decent coin.
But nowadays it’s about benefits and having enough to retire!;)
    401K
    Profit sharing
    Short/long term disability
    AD&D
    Breakdown Pay
    Inclement Weather Pay
    And of course Detention Pay
Many drivers at other companies(W2,1099 and owner/operator alike) have to start a riot just to get detention pay-as we have seen numerous times here on the forums .
