I'll be going out with a trainer soon and trying to keep it light on the baggage. One thing though, I can't sleep in a sleeping bag, way to restrictive, I'm kind of a big guy, so I will bring a sheet and blankets. My question is what size sheets should I bring, twin or double?? any help would be great, thanks Liteguy

neither one will fit. The truck mattresses have their own size, but you can make a full size work for now

I always used twins. However, you will be with a trainer and I am sure he will be having you use the upper bunk.

If they run as a team won't he have to use the lower bunk if his "trainer" is driving? Bring a sleeping bag as well as sheets. Just don't zip it up if its too restrictive.

My trainer made me sleep in the top bunk even when moving.

I would agree with the use of the sleeping bag and not zipping it.

I have always used twin sheets. Though some mattresses I need the college twin sheets, which are twin long.
Top bunks normally are long singles. Have to use a sheet for the bottom of those, the others do not fit.
For sleeping on the trainers bunk. Just bring a sleeping bag or something you can lay over his things. So you are not on his stuff.

You do not want to sleep in the top bunk while moving as the swaying of the truck is magnified in the top bunk and is actually hard to sleep with that much movement.

You also don't want to "hot bunk" behind some other person especially if he has a hygiene issue such as a bad body odor or can't figure out how a shower works! If you can't sleep in a mummy type of bag get a rectangular type of bag but don't zip it up as mentioned and you can just move it between bunks at shift changes.

Due to me being disabled for the time being and an in truck incident a few of years ago after getting my first APU I thought of an idea and in the next week or so I'll be on the CB around Springfield, MO and the truckstops at Strafford, Mo with this "team bunk" sleeping roll which I think you guys teaming while training would like. When I get it going I'll post it to TTR at this link http://www.thetruckersreport.com/trucktradingpost/ .

I finalized the design and I'll be making them by hand in my garage with as much American made materials as I can but I'm sure you teams will like what I'll be putting out and it'll help me get back on my feet.

Good luck and check back with me later

Yup we know it. But the trainers march by their own laws. If they can abuse it, you can guaranty they will. A company installed camera to monitor trainers would be one heck of a good idea. If the student learns some bad habits the company would quickly catch on.
