there are some tanker companies out here, the catch, you need mtn. exp. almost any trucking company hireing local/regional is going to require a minimum of 12 mos., most want 24 mos. of recent mtn. driving exp. Groendyke is the main one that I know of, there are some others, but regardless, it comes back to my first comment.

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Good luck. I am going back on the road because I can't afford to be local anymore. Co is a sanctuary state....so the illegal mexicans are rampid here. Good luck competing with them for business and jobs. Alot of folks I know are in the same boat as I am here.

My wife has been trying to get a job in CO SPG-DEN for 6 years and NO-ONE pays anything near the $90,000 she needs to get to move from her current job as a manager. They offer $50,000 and she just laughs and says, "Well, offer me a $50,000 bonus every year and I'll be right there."

Not to mention housing prices here are rediculous!

I didnt figure the housing would cost that much, I was told by more then one source that I could get a low end apt for 400-500 a month and in that kind of scenery I would be fine with the crappiest hole in the wall or white trashey trailer I could find. Either way though I decided to scrap the idea, Im gonna persue a job with Superior Carriers... I got a good friend that works there and likes it alot, Im gonna try to negotiate an over the road position for a couple years then move into a local position when Im ready. Im not feeling very decisive right now about what I wanna do but I need to make a move. I'd like to keep my options open to relocate eventually and at the same time I dont wanna bounce around from job to job, I want get the job I'll retire doing. I still have to make the phone calls to my cousin and the tanker driver from Denver who both volunteered to help me get situated telling them I punked out. I'm not looking forward to that!

yeah you can probably find a 1 bd apt. in the Springs or some parts of Denver for $500. If you can find a company in the area that will hire you and train you for mtn. then that's the way to go, but even that's gonna depend on their insurance.
