You're rather near this monster.

Try some of the LTL companies, ABF had a big terminal on the south side.
LtlAnonymous Thanks this. -
To the OP:
ABF ------> & all other worthwhile LTL carriers ----------> will require ALL relevant CDL endorsements -------> tanker, HAZMAT...& also doubles/triples
-- LBean Jr., LtlAnonymous, ducnut and 1 other person Thank this. -
What @LtlAnonymous posted is the absolute best opportunity you’ll find, around there. Outside of LTL companies, I don’t see you finding a home-daily job that’s worthwhile. The mega home-daily opportunities won’t pay very well. For sure, the fly-by-night scumbag companies aren’t going to pay, either. If you can get into the UPS system, you’ll be set for life, making ~$100K/yr, great benefit package, great retirement. Beyond that, hauling fuel for a private fleet, meaning a gas station chain who own their own trucks, is going to be the next best bet.LtlAnonymous Thanks this.

This is kind of bad time to look for new job in Chicago. The market is slow and volume is down. Plus, Yellow went bankrupt and like 900 drivers lost their job.
I know they are opening new OD terminal in Elgin pretty soon so you might wanna get your doubles endorsement and Hazmat. Also, I think RL carriers is hiring.
Im at UPS and I’m pretty happy. Keep in mind you will start at the bottom of the seniority….which means you might not work much at first. -
If you get hazmat also look at Dayton freight out of crest hill
EuropeanTrucker Thanks this. -
you're going to need your hazmat pretty much for anything local. If your interested tankers theres a lot of good tanker companies in the area.

It’s a large carrier like most it’s a good fit to get the experience you need then run ♀️

Chicago? Isn't that where all them companies are claiming to pay the big money, like 75 cents per mile solo?
