I worked at Landair back in early 2000 (I had to look up my resume to find out when lol). They were actually not bad at all back then. Cant give you recent info, but they probably havent changed much.

I was there 7 months. Worked 6 days a week every week and burned me out. The last 2 weeks at the end 1) we were moving from our old house to our new one (jun 1), 2) was our 25th anniversary (jun 14), 3) father in law had quadruple by pass surgery (somewhere around the 5th), and 4) our dog died (jun 13), and they gave me 1 day off.... I had to use it on the house closing. Spent my 25th anniversary in a truckstop in Indiana.

That's a good mix to choose from; flatbed, dry van, reefer.

I know someone that drives for this company .

they are home usually every weekend .
And they will hire new CDL grads ,
They have a 6-9 month training that pays half of what a driver gets paid .

    rotro13 and Chinatown Thank this.

Yes unfortunately with economics it comes down to supply and demand, when supply is short ( drivers) and demand is great (freight) companies will be less choosy about who they hire, in other words employ people with little to no experience, however when demand is low, so freight is slow and there is an abundance of drivers also looking for jobs companies can afford to pick and choose who they please. However there may still be companies out there willing to hire new drivers, it's just a matter of searching and be willing to make a few hard decisions like moving, traveling further to a depot, or even working for less pay,

I didn’t realize You had the automatic trans restriction .
I think they do heavy haul and all their rigs are probably 18 speed manuals .

Not being able to drive a manual will limit your jobs somewhat .
Most places have switched to automatic transmissions , but a lot of tanker and heavy haul trucks will stay manuals for a long time .

same as not having all the endorsements

To work for them you’d have to have doubles triples , Haz mat and twic

and a clean credit , criminal, and driving record .

Soooo...given the above -- what's the status with Werner?

Most of their fleet by now are likely automatics.

If (all of a sudden) they "need" experience -- just how much do they want/require?
