Hey everyone. I currently drive dryvan but I'm looking into flatbed. My primary goal is to find something that reliably gets me home every week. Staying mostly regional and keeping a day schedule are my secondary goals. I assume that coming home every week would probably accomplish the latter by default, but correct me if I'm wrong.

My question is if flatbed is reliable for this, or at least better than van, reefer, tanker etc...

    Thanks in advance

I had pretty Goodluck on the west coast just running like Sunday-Friday, or the occasional Monday-Friday regional run when I pulled a flatbed 9-10 years ago. Wasn’t great money wise though.

At the risk of sounding a bit too cynical -- besides tarping/chaining/strapping in the rain &/or snow -- is flatbed reliable for ANYthing? :dontknow:

It's definitely not my first choice. But regional is getting hard to find in other areas, and what's left of it is often 10-12 days out instead of 5-7.

Where are you mostly finding 10 - 12 days out?

Two examples in my area are CFI and PTL. Their postings still say weekly, but it's actually 10-12 when I call. Those aren't the only places, just two of the more prominent examples I've encountered recently.

I'm in South Mississippi but I prefer not to post my zip. While I appreciate recommendations for specific companies, I'm at a point where I'm either going to stay where I'm at for the winter or change what type of trucking I do entirely.

I do skateboarding in SoCal area and go home everyday. Sleep in my own bed with the Mrs. , downfall…… dealing with local traffic.
