I worked at Landair back in early 2000 (I had to look up my resume to find out when lol). They were actually not bad at all back then. Cant give you recent info, but they probably havent changed much.
I was there 7 months. Worked 6 days a week every week and burned me out. The last 2 weeks at the end 1) we were moving from our old house to our new one (jun 1), 2) was our 25th anniversary (jun 14), 3) father in law had quadruple by pass surgery (somewhere around the 5th), and 4) our dog died (jun 13), and they gave me 1 day off.... I had to use it on the house closing. Spent my 25th anniversary in a truckstop in Indiana.

I know of a guy that just got his CDL and was hired on with trans am no experience and just got out of the pin pay sucks but he is just putting in six months and looking for another opportunity
-
they are home usually every weekend .
And they will hire new CDL grads ,
They have a 6-9 month training that pays half of what a driver gets paid . -

US Army 88M program. They have daycabs and decent benefits.

I think they do heavy haul and all their rigs are probably 18 speed manuals .
Not being able to drive a manual will limit your jobs somewhat .
Most places have switched to automatic transmissions , but a lot of tanker and heavy haul trucks will stay manuals for a long time .
same as not having all the endorsements
To work for them you’d have to have doubles triples , Haz mat and twic
and a clean credit , criminal, and driving record .rotro13 Thanks this. -
Most of their fleet by now are likely automatics.
If (all of a sudden) they "need" experience -- just how much do they want/require?
