sorry bout the double post, but here goes.. i ask that if you see, if anyone sees anything wrong with these numbers please let me know, if i need to go more in detail about something let me know also. i wont take comments or suggestions as a personal beating but more as a lesson learned, and knowledge is power. if you all can find my errors now then it'll only help me when it comes time for me to put this plan to work.
all of the numbers are based on 500mi a day, a 5 day work week, and fuel is 2x 150gal # 5mpg
House - $4500 a month..... 0.45cpm
Truck
30,000-5000dwn pym = 25000 over two years.......0.11cpm
?Trailer
11,000-5,000dwn pym = 6,000 over one year ......0.05cpm
Fuel
300gal # $3= 1,800/1500mi........0.60cpm
Ins
16,227 - 6,227dwn pym = 10,000 over nine months.......0.12cpm
notes
ok for the house it includes all of our (me and wife's) bills: rent, water, electric, cable, phones, POV Ins, POV payment and a loan that will be paid off in a few months.
truck payment, people are like "he forgot about intrest" i didn't forget about it. every month after i make one payment i'll make another quater payment towards principal, which will reduce the balance quicker (not the quickest) and in turn lower the amount of the payment that goes towards interests.
? mark next to trailer. this is all gonna go one of two ways, either i'm going to purchase my own flatbed and scurry around the south east, or i'm going to run for a citrus broker and drag their trailers around for a season and then buy a flatbed and run it. i know a few from my teenage days and my dad knows more then enough that have their own trailers and are hiring release drivers. let me know what ya think.. and thanks for your help. i'm not trying to be another guy who's young dumb and full of fun, and that's why i spend my idle time on here. all i've ever known is citrus and i've been out of the game for a long long time.

First you must define leased on O/O or ones with own authority. My Operating cost will be different once I am out on my own authority.
An O/O leased on to a carrier will not have a High operating Cost. So an O/O leased on to a carrier can make good money at 0.90 per mile. But you have to realize at making 0.90 per mile he not having to deadhead for free as you would be.
But as being leased on to a company, I pay for fuel + 280 a month for Insurance and qualcom. I get paid 75% of the load. The load I am currently unloading paid me 2300.00 and fuel cost me 498.00, though I did top my tanks before getting to an area where fuel was over 3.00. so I put another 200.00 worth in. With this one load I will make enough to make a truck payment and some.
But if I had my own authority I would hope for a higher pay but what I have looked into The rate I am getting I still be making a profit, for when I get my own authority I will have a different truck, and this one will be reconfigured into a 10 wheeler and doing 2300 to 3000 per load no matter how far it goes pending on the weight that is loaded on it.
No all have a low operating cost and same time not all have a High operating cost. That is how some can make it on cheaper freight.losttrucker Thanks this. -
Being an independent o/o cheap freight to me is any load that does'nt pay enough to cover operating cost plus a profit with empty miles included i have to make minimum $1.50 a mile for all miles for my truck and trailer to be profitable plus pay me i argue with guys all the time at a local lumber yard taking loads for $.95 to a $1.10 a mile and i get the same answer it pays the fuel to get somewhere better it cost me $1.02 to run my truck so at the rates there hauling at with empty miles included it would cost me money to run and i bet it cost them to they just have'nt figured it out yet and never will because the mentality whith to many is as long as there a load on the truck its making money so wrong.
