I started adding my benefits into the equation.
Scenario 1: $250k vs. $150k + $50k in benefits = $50k increase with unknown insurance and no pension.
Scenario 2: $200k in pay + benefits at UPS PLUS 80-100k from sysadmin part-time gig = $280-300k total with amazing insurance and pension.
Scenario two wins all day.HiramKingWilliams, Old_n_gray, McUzi and 4 others Thank this. -
What certs do you currently have?
Thinking about taking A+ myselfMcUzi Thanks this. -
A+, Security+, CySA+, Pentest+, CCNA, OSCP, Associate of ISC2 (Passed CISSP exam but lack the formal experience to fully be endorsed as a CISSP).
CISSP was by far the most challenging because after obtaining all the previous technical certs, the CISSP is a mindf*** because it is non technical, a mile wide and an inch deep with the perspective of management.
I finished OSCP in 8 hours, but spent another 7 hours on the documentation side of the exam (you have to document everything you do in the Pentests). The documentation part was challenging.Last edited: Oct 19, 2023

Yea I know that CISSP is a beast!
So I take it your focusing on the cyber side of things?McUzi and LtlAnonymous Thank this. -
Correct. My job focuses on bringing the company into ISO27001 compliance for future certification and to maintain it once we do. The secondary aspect of my job is more of a sysadmin.Last edited: Oct 24, 2023
