It's got to be something like that.
Bragging about saving money by taking the dye out of red diesel fuel, then putting up a picture of yourself and your truck..........priceless! -

LOL biggest mistake ever! He posts a pic of himself and his truck so that LEO's out there will know what and whom to look for now. Good move man, real smooth. Talk to us again after you get nailed now for suspicion.

I find this thread amusing. Removing die from marked fuel. Its a dumb idea. I farm as well as truck, so I buy both marked and unmarked fuel. Both gas and diesel, up here in Canada we can burn marked fuel in our trucks if we have farm plates. In order to get farm plates you have to apply, get a license from the government and prove that you are still farming every three years in order to keep your farm fuel number. Part of the deal is that you aren't allowed to this fuel for anything other than farming operations. If your going to burn it in a truck you can only use it to haul your own product to market, or from your equipment if your doing custom work, and only if it's a necessary operation. Example is if your seeding and you use your truck to haul seed to your seeding unit, you can do that, but if you haul to a neighbor, technically that's illegal. You can burn it in you trucks, so long as you meet the rules that the province sets out.
Any how, I have a friend who got a truck at a farm sale, and he isn't a farmer so he had commercial plates. He knew that the truck had marked fuel in it so he drained the tanks before the truck left and filled it up with clear from his slip tank. He had to cross a scale on his way home and they pulled it in for an inspection. They dipped the tank and found that their was a trace of the die in the fuel. It must have come from the fuel return line and the little bit left in the bottom of the tank. It was a $3000 fine, and that was 5 years ago, I believe they have gone up.
Here is another good one. We used to use older overhead storage tanks for storing our gas. 2, 500 gallon tanks one marked one clear. When we have the tanks filled we always ran the first bit out threw a strainer to catch anything that was stirred up from the bottom of the tank. SO one time I am running out some from the clear tank and as soon as the hose emptied it started running red/purple. It turns out that the die valve at the filling depot our fuel guys us had stuck open, and all the fuel that went out for at least a half a day was marked fuel. They just about S*** when I called in the problem. Just another thing to worry about eh?
